XTRM Tip: Paintball Safety Tips from the Pros

Posted by sperky18 on December 24, 2008

XTRM Sports Network:

Paintball is a great sport, but it can be dangerous if you don’t follow some basic guidelines. Recently, PaintBall.com caught up with some of the pros in paintball to hear what they had to say on the issue. Here’s what they had to say:

“Check your goggle lens frequently and replace your lens at the slightest hint of a crack. Be sure to only use recommended goggle cleaning sprays or else you will weaken the lens, as well.

Even if your lens is still in pristine condition, you still need to replace it about every 6 months to a year. Check your manufacturer’s safety information on your lens since it tends to vary. This is extremely important since the loss of your eyesight is at stake. ”

“Safety is the most boring thing to talk about, but it is too huge to ignore. You can learn about safety on your own or you can be taught, but ignoring it can be real painful to say the least.

-Two main areas that must be focused on are the air system and the gun itself. Paintball guns are not toys. You can even read that statement on every gun on the market. It should be treated with the same respect and care as a real fire arm. I know you are trying to talk your mom into letting you get a “Marker”, but this safety tip may not help your cause.

- Your gun is always loaded. YOUR GUN IS ALWAYS LOADED! I wrote it twice because the most used excuse for accidental shootings is, “I did not think it was loaded”. This means, keep your gun aimed down to the ground, your finger off the trigger, and keep your barrel sock on at all times when not playing. Even in pro events now, players are only permitted to take their barrel socks off 10 seconds before the game starts.

- Now, we have all heard by now, how dangerous high pressure air can be. Never work on your own air system. If you are having trouble with your air system, have an expert at your local paintball store look at it. Always have certified tech work on your equipment. You can even learn how to do the maintenance and basic safety inspections for both your marker and air system. Ask to be shown the best ways from your local store.

- Last safety tip is to not eat paintballs! They taste bad and can cause an upset stomach. If you are hungry, please eat an apple. If you saw what these gelatin paintballs are made from, you might change your mind. Plus, you may stain the toilet bowl.

T68 M4 Generation 6 released

Posted by sperky18 on December 24, 2008

Real Action Paintball announced the release of the T68 M4 Generation 6. Featuring newly redesigned ball feed and air system components, this is the most highly celebrated version of the T68 Series…ever!

The T68 Gen6 reflects the latest in tactical paintball technology, incorporating a fully functional magazine-feed system. The array of accessory interchangeability allows for a world of configurations: RIS CQB, Special Ops, onboard hidden air source, remote lines, red dot sights, scopes, flashlights, grenade launchers, and a full size hopper or magazine feed! The new T68 M4 works with an 18 round detachable magazine, though an optional 200 round hopper adaptor is available for those who need more ammo capacity.

The T68 M4 is built around an internal flexi-air system that enables you to use an air tank within the stock, or to use a full size air tank as a stock. The T68 M4 is ideal for individuals who believe in tactical precision – where every shot counts, every ball eliminates an opponent, and the game feel is as real as you can get.

The T68 M4 has a removable carry handle with standard iron sights that are adjustable for elevation and windage. With the carry handle removed, the T68 M4 can take any standard scope, sight, or mount on the flattop rail. They have endless configurations, and are fully compatible with standard military specification attachments. The T68 M4 has an authentic charging handle just like a real assault rifle.

With an advanced hammer and power spring – and micro-honed barrel – the T68 Gen6 will deliver head shots at 150 feet, with a max range of 300 feet. They shoot standard .68 caliber paintballs and can be used at any paintball field. The new Gen6 has numerous internal and external upgrades, including a newly redesigned bolt and hammer, and many other intricate parts that improve the T68 Series marker’s overall power, range and accuracy.

XTRM: Brief Paintball History

Posted by sperky18 on December 20, 2008

XTRM Sports Network:

The game of Paintball started in 1981. In that game, two teams tried to capture the flag with air-powered pistols. Now, the same game has turned into a million dollar sport.

In Midnight Paintball, two teams can play. About eighty players can play in each team.  Each team has a flag station at certain area in the field.  The mission is to protect one’s own flag station, and get the flag of other team’s flag station.

You need paintball guns, special masks, and proper Midnight Paintball outfits to play the game. Midnight Paintball guns consist of colored balls that do not hurt.  The masks and shoes should match the color of the field. It is much like a hide-and-seek game.

The game begins by a signal. Each team tries to go to the opponent team’s area, and capture the flag. After capturing the flag, one has to return to his base.

When you shoot someone in the game, they are called ‘out’ of the game. Sometimes, you might get the flag, but get shot by someone while reaching your flag station. In above situation, you have to leave the flag there itself.
The team that gets the flag first to its base is called winner.

Midnight Paintball is widely played is USA and Europe. Many companies have entered into the manufacturing of products of Midnight Paintball. Nowadays, Midnight Paintball tournaments are organized by Pepsi and Coca-Cola companies.
