Mark Burkhart To Field His Own Supermoto Team
With Mitch Hansen and HMC Racing

The Burkhart Racing Team Will Attend First Round of the 2009 XTRM AMA Pro Racing Supermoto Series

Mark Burkhart, the 2008 Moto X World Supermoto Champion, 2007 X-Games Supermoto Gold winner, and 2007 AMA Supermoto Champion has formed his own supermoto race team to compete in the X Games, the Proximus Superbiker event in Belgium and the AMA Supermoto Series. The team will be called Burkhart Racing.

He is teaming up with Mitch Hansen of HMC Racing and will be racing factory KTM bikes. Ulrich Toporsch will be crew chief for the team. Currently, all of them are busy preparing for the first round of the XTRM AMA Supermoto Series scheduled for March 22, 2009 at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

Sponsorship interest for the Burkhart Racing team has been very strong. Longtime supporters of Burkhart like Monster Energy Drink, Arai, Sidi, Scott, Cycra and Dunlop have committed to supporting his new team. In addition, HMC Racing also brings a number of sponsor relationships to the new team. HMC Racing sponsors include: KTM, Vortex, Fuchs Silkolene Oil, DID Chain, Beringer Brakes, Akrapovic Exhaust, Millennium Technologies, EBC Brakes, Wiseco Pistons, Cometic Gaskets, Hot Cams, and Pivot Works.

“I am looking forward to working with Mitch this year and racing the factory KTM bikes. I raced the KTM’s for the first time this past weekend in Florida and loved the way they handled. Mitch and Uli are a great team and they obviously know how to build bikes capable of winning championships. I am feeling strong and looking forward to racing again. The last few months have been very stressful and quite hectic. I was pleasantly surprised by all the support for Burkhart Racing from the motorcycle industry and appreciate all the sponsors coming through for me and the team in this tough economy. I also want to thank Larry Pegram and Ed Kuhlenkamp of Build-Momentum for advising me on putting together the team and working on the deals,” commented Burkhart.

About Burkhart Racing

With just two weeks left until the season opening round of the XTRM AMA Pro Racing Supermoto Championship, riders and teams are gearing up for an action packed series. Our team has been working hard to make sure we have the best bike on the track and I’m confident that we do. I’m really excited to go racing on it.”

Jeff will compete for the 450 Premier title while his new teammate, Joey Pascarella, will vie for the Lites championship. SNAFU ANOREXIC PEDAL PROTOTYPES

Posted by sperky18 on January 2, 2009

xtrm_logo_2color_v3full

XTRM Sports Network:

1/2/09, Written by BART

John Chen at Wellgo outdid himself with SNAFU’S new Anorexic pedals for BMX, MTB and 700c: these babies are awesome. The weight of one 100mm wide Anorexic pedal for MTB and BMX is 178g—ascant 10 grams heavier than our incredibly light PC pedal.

Granted, the Anorexic pedal is four times more expensive than our plastic pedal, but it lasts four times longer, so the cost is a wash. Pro’s are becoming disenchanted by the disposable nature of plastic pedals, and our super low-profile Anorexic pedal has everyone on our team psyched. Ride testing on these prototypes begins immediately.

The 75mm wide Anorexic pedal is designed for direct-drive track bikes (narrow pedals are preferred on these machines to aid cornering clearance), but tiny BMX riders will love it, too. Everyone has a 16-and an 18-inch hardcore freestyle bike these days, and the SNAFU Anorexic 700c pedal is a perfect high-tech upgrade for these small BMX machines.

Colors include black, purple, bronze and  blue ano, and the traction pins will probably be black electroplate, not shiny nickel, on the finished product.

XTRM Tip: Paintball Safety Tips from the Pros

Posted by sperky18 on December 24, 2008

XTRM Sports Network:

Paintball is a great sport, but it can be dangerous if you don’t follow some basic guidelines. Recently, PaintBall.com caught up with some of the pros in paintball to hear what they had to say on the issue. Here’s what they had to say:

“Check your goggle lens frequently and replace your lens at the slightest hint of a crack. Be sure to only use recommended goggle cleaning sprays or else you will weaken the lens, as well.

Even if your lens is still in pristine condition, you still need to replace it about every 6 months to a year. Check your manufacturer’s safety information on your lens since it tends to vary. This is extremely important since the loss of your eyesight is at stake. ”

“Safety is the most boring thing to talk about, but it is too huge to ignore. You can learn about safety on your own or you can be taught, but ignoring it can be real painful to say the least.

-Two main areas that must be focused on are the air system and the gun itself. Paintball guns are not toys. You can even read that statement on every gun on the market. It should be treated with the same respect and care as a real fire arm. I know you are trying to talk your mom into letting you get a “Marker”, but this safety tip may not help your cause.

- Your gun is always loaded. YOUR GUN IS ALWAYS LOADED! I wrote it twice because the most used excuse for accidental shootings is, “I did not think it was loaded”. This means, keep your gun aimed down to the ground, your finger off the trigger, and keep your barrel sock on at all times when not playing. Even in pro events now, players are only permitted to take their barrel socks off 10 seconds before the game starts.

- Now, we have all heard by now, how dangerous high pressure air can be. Never work on your own air system. If you are having trouble with your air system, have an expert at your local paintball store look at it. Always have certified tech work on your equipment. You can even learn how to do the maintenance and basic safety inspections for both your marker and air system. Ask to be shown the best ways from your local store.

- Last safety tip is to not eat paintballs! They taste bad and can cause an upset stomach. If you are hungry, please eat an apple. If you saw what these gelatin paintballs are made from, you might change your mind. Plus, you may stain the toilet bowl.
